Lots of Firsts

My tiny men are off to start another year of school. It's is very bittersweet for me. Noah will be starting his FIRST day of FIRST grade and his FIRST day of all day school. Kyle will will be starting his FIRST day of third grade and both both boys start their FIRST day at their new school.
Both of them were pretty nervous and Kyle said his stomach felt funny (Mine too, Son. Mine too.).
I pray everyday that they make friends and are happy at school. I love these two angel boys so much and nothing makes me happier than to see them enjoying themselves and feeling confident.
Good luck, boys!

Last day of School (and Orchard Elementary)

First Day of 2nd Grade

Last Day of 2nd grade

Look at how much my big guy grew.
Kyle did very well in school this year.  Ms. Barber could not say enough good about him.  HE had a bit of a rough time enjoying school though.  I felt he wasn't challenged enough. I'm praying next year he will get a teacher that can engage his smart little mind.

When the bell rang at the end of school many of the kids were cheering and clapping. Not my Kyky. He was long faced and melancholy about leaving his school of three years.

Noah not only grew physically this year but he grew a lot academically.  His ABC's are stronger and he is reading some.  His teacher always said Noah is a sweet boy that likes to daydream.  Adam says that Noah reminds him of himself.

Noah too was sad to leave Orchard Elementary. He just kept saying how much he was going to miss his friends.
The kiddergarten did an end of year program which I always enjoy.  They did a slide show asking the kids what they wanted to be when they grew up. Noah's answer? A Lego designer. Pretty good considering some of friends wanted to be dog walkers and waiters. :)

Things I love about today...

Kyle reads the newspaper. I don't read the newspaper. (It helps that it
was an article about Legos. But still!)

Megan running to the bathroom and telling me she's "not going to freak out" (as she is wont to do).

Megan insisting on using my bathroom to wash her hands because the "boys bathroom stinks!"

Noah telling me if he had three wishes they would be -to be rich with money and gold -to be a ninja "wif" swords and
-to have robot armour. That's not asking too much, is it?

Ella getting excited about getting the tub. I loved her quick breaths and feet and twirling.

Love Kyle {Old Draft}

{Original date 8/3/09}

He is such a sweet big brother to Noah. They play so well together.

Kyle is a VERY tender and sweet boy- especially towards his Mommy. Kyle always makes sure that I know he loves me and tells me at random times during the day. If I ask Noah for a kiss, Kyle insists on giving me one as well.

Kyle is an incessant whistler. He learned to whistle at the very young of age of 24 months. People used to be so surprised to hear him whistling his own little diddy. He whistles in the middle of fighting with Noah. He is whistling even as I type this.

Kyle is, for the most part, a very polite boy. The funny and unfortunate thing is that I think he reserves the majority of his politeness for Mommy and Daddy. We're working on that.

{I can't believe how big my biggest little man has gotten since this posting.}

Indoor Soccer

The boys just completed their indoor soccer season. I am proud to report that there was no crying from Kyle this time. ;)  And Noah finally got to play this time.  They enjoyed it but didn't seem to LOVE it.  They played twice a week plus Kyle had one practice.  I'm glad its done but glad for the experience.

Noah reminds me so much of Adam in this picture.

Kyle's team is missing probably 4 kids and that's not even his coach. Lame.
But I love this picture of Kyle.

What is it about Sepia...

{Old draft May 2008}

...or black and white for that matter? I think I am permanently going to switch my camera to take pics in either of these color modes. Normal pictures look more creative. Baby boys look impossibly more precious. Acne breakouts are hidden, wrinkles look less...wrinkley (Okay so maybe these are the real reasons but still! :) )

{Oh my lands, I can hardly stand how sweet my boys are/were. Look at Noah's cheeks!}

Kyle's First Day of School

My big little 2nd grader.
He wan't super excited to start school until the night before.  After getting a father's blessing and talking about it he got SUPER excited and then couldn't sleep that night.  He jumped out of bed the next morning, put on his new clothes and told me we can't be late!
We got to go in and meet his new teacher Mrs. Barber.  She seems nice but I already miss Miss Farley. I'm not good with change so I'm glad Kyle is. :)

I had to include this picture because he was obsessed with getting his top center tooth out. By the time he got home it was dangling by a thread. After some work we got it out.  He is now missing both top teeth and bottom side teeth.

Kyle is in an advanced reading class this year and we are looking forward to him being challenged a little more. And by "we" I include Kyle as well.  He always tells me he likes to be challenged at school.

At the beginning of this school year Kyle was ....
The kid is growing so fast we wanted to see how much he grew in a year. From April to August of this year he grew almost an inch!

Look Ma! No Training Wheels!

I've been wanting to get Kyle off his training wheels all summer but he has been reluctant. One day in late June I decided today would be the day.  When I approached it with Kyle he whined a little saying he didn't want to.  Luckily, it didn't take much to convince him to at least TRY it.  He has been on training wheels for a couple of years now and I had a feeling he was more ready than he thought. Well, turns out he was more ready than even I thought. I have no pictures of Adam actually holding on to Kyle's bike because Kyle was riding by himself so quickly I never even got the chance to take any.  I think Adam took Kyle up and down our street once before Kyle was on his own.  It was so fun to see him be so successful and overcome this fear so easily. I was a proud mama.

Megan loves pushing her brothers.

Riding off into he sunset...

 Yay Kyle! Way to go!!

Kyle's Lego Birthday

It's Kyle's turn again! Hard to believe its been 2 years since Kyle had his last "friend" party. I think a party every other year is plenty and easier on my sanity.
Kyle and Noah have been obsessed over Lego's so of course this was what Kyle chose to be the theme of his party. I tried my darndest to keep Lego's out of our house for as long as possible. They are a MESS and a hazard to adults and children alike. Grandma and Grandpa still had Adam's old Lego's and so when they got them out for the boys to play with that was the end of my protest. They were hooked.  That's all either Noah or Kyle wanted for their birthdays.  Kyle even got a few Lego Wii games and Lego Star Wars jammies. Oh well, they love them and they are a good creative outlet...
Anyhoo, on to the party. Enjoy the plethora of pictures!
